How to build a large sign

Companies use signs to advertise a special event, sale, or simply to let others know the company exists. a large sign can cost several hundred dollars each month for rent, so building your own billboard is an affordable and effective. if you build a big sign on your own, you can customize and change as often as desired. you can turn the painting and a good size piece of wood on a large sign in a matter of hours.


Step 1

Cover both sides of plywood 4 feet by 8 primer. this will create a uniform surface painting and avoid inconsistencies in the finished paint job.

Step 2

Paint the base color of the signal on both sides. This allows you to create a double sided sign and also protects the back.

Step 3

Filling objects, numbers and letters with the 1 inch, 2 inch and 3 1/2-inch brushes for you. allow each coat of paint to dry completely before adding the next layer on top.

Step 9

Apply clear polyurethane to the entire signal. rolled in a thin layer to protect the signal against inclement weather.
